A Place to Stand and Stare

I took this photo on my family holiday to Majorca. The weather was consistently nice there. Warm and sunny, gentle breezes. But pretty poor for photography. I was presented with bleak, boring skies for all but one day of the trip when it was overcast. The light was allways harsh, (not as much) but still quite surprisingly even at sunrise. This was more of a holiday to forget about stuff back home and to relax on the beach and eat lots of ice cream! I would have loved to have dedicated more time to photography, but I didn't know the area, we had no hire car to travel round in, and I had lost my tripod adapter thingy so my hopes of long exposures was screwed . Another quick thing, this was literally a set up quick and shoot thing. I popped my grads on and shot a few, completely forgetting about DOF and other things. Im really annoyed I did that. Proberly becasue of the intense heat. I really wish I had shot at f8 of f11 rather than 5.6, but oh well. I kinda made up for it with some nice sharpening tech..
Anway, im kinda pleased with this shot. I spent alot more time on post processing than I did on the scrap you may have seen. All details below.

Enjoy XD

Processing RE_PROCESSED
Processed the RAW file in Nikon Capture NX. Saved as a jped and worked some more in PS CS2. Selective levels. High pass sharpening technique. Unsharp mask. Selective colour adjustments of blues, greens and yellows. Added a frame to give the photo a panoramic feel, which I feel suites it nicely

Other version was too false looking and over sharp
